For more than 30 years, Charis has earned a reputation for artistic excellence through performances of diverse and challenging choral repertoire. Charis is now seeking a new Artistic Director to lead us into our next chapter.

December's Guest Conductor - Richard Price
Richard Price is Grammy award winning recording producer, engineer, and editor, with over 1000 commercial CDs to his credit. Recently retired as president of Candlewood Digital, called by Fanfare Magazine “one of the most respected classical recording firms in the industry”, Mr. Price
is an alumnus of The University of Michigan, The Juilliard School, and the Pierre Monteux Domaine School for Advanced Conducting Study. He has produced, engineered, edited and mastered recordings for many major artists, including most recently an 8-CD series with the London Philharmonic featuring the music of American composer Barbara Harbach, the complete Beethoven String Quartets with the Arianna String Quartet, and a 4-disc retrospective of classical string trios with The Vivaldi Project. His work has been honored with three Grammy nominations and one Grammy award. For EMI Classics, he digitally remastered a good portion of their classical archives, including the recordings of Rubinstein, Callas, Domingo, Te Kanawa, Perlman, Segovia, Stokowski, Milstein, Karajan, Bjoerling, Corelli, DiStefano, Wunderlich, Caballé, Gedda, Pavarotti, Bergonzi, Muti, Leinsdorf, Boult, Barbirolli, Kubelik, Rattle, and the 1902 hotel room recordings of Enrico Caruso.
Prior to entering the recording field, he had a 15-year career as a professional horn player, serving as solo horn in the orchestras of Broadway shows and as principal horn in the Chamber Orchestra of New York, as well as with the Borealis Wind Quintet, Galliard Brass Ensemble, and many other groups as a New York freelance artist. A frequent baritone soloist with choral and oratorio groups in the NYC/CT area during the 80s and 90s, he was Music Director and Conductor of the Danbury Concert Chorus from 2002 to 2010, when he was named the first Music Director Emeritus in the group’s 90-year history. He has arranged and conducted commercial recordings for artists including Marni Nixon and John Cullum, and in December 2026, he will guest conduct Messiah with Charis Chamber Voices and Orchestra. In the summer of 2026, Mr. Price returned for a second time as one of the five finals judges for the prestigious Indianapolis International Baroque Competition, held every four years.
He is an internationally known arranger, with performances of his work by the Toronto, Dallas, Seattle, and Detroit Symphonies, Westminster Choir College, Pro Arte Singers, the New York Choral Artists, Canadian Brass, Philadelphia Orchestra Brass, New York Philharmonic Brass, Wind Quintets of the Berlin Philharmonic and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and many others. His works have been featured on TV (Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Moone Boy, Fat Tony & Co.) and film (Being Julia). He lives on Candlewood Isle in New Fairfield, CT, with his wife, composer (and Charis soprano!) Meg Bowles, and their rescue Akita, Boomer. Their daughter Hannah lives in Chicago.
